Christmas Vacation: Part 6

Only one more post and then on to something else, I promise :) After we left Sacramento, we headed up the 101 to the Redwood National Forest. Our first stop was the 315 ft tall Chandelier Tree which we got to drive our little car through. We then took the Avenue of Giants route where we saw lots of giant redwoods. It was overcast and raining, but still beautiful.

After the redwoods we continued on to Ferndale, CA. This little town is known for their unique Victorian village. I loved the colors and architecture of the old buildings.

Our last stop for the night (before our hotel in Crescent City) was in Eureka, CA to see the Carson Mansion. I remember watching a California’s Gold episode about it and wanted to see it in person. It looked really beautiful lit up at night.

… end of the trip next

That all looks so fun! We loved the Redwoods, though we only saw the parts near the coastline. We had come down from the Oregon coast and didn't cross over to inland CA until further south, so we weren't close to the places you saw. We'll have to go back someday, I guess! We wanted to go through one of those trees you can drive though, but the only one near where we were, without going completely out of the way, was on private land. So...have to try again next time, I guess. Glad you guys had such a good time!

Wow Melissa! What beautiful pictures of God's handiwork in the Redwoods. The buildings in Ferdale are gorgeous with their detail and paint colors. You captured it very well :)

The redwoods are always so awesome, aren't they! You captured everything so well too! Where was the first picture taken (of the hill/trees)? That is gorgeous!

Thanks everyone for your sweet comments.
Cathy, the first picture was taken from my window while driving somewhere on Hwy 20 before the 101. It was beautiful and I was happy the picture turned out ok :)
