Friday we took the tractor to the far end of island and walked along the shore back. Agates, sea glass, shells and pretty rocks were fun to collect along the way. Mickey’s friend came over for the day with her dog, Chewy. I could not get over that dog, her name fit perfectly. She looked like a Wookiee! On Saturday we packed up and headed home.

Dylan’s Birthday
I am interrupting the Sinclair posts with the birthday of a cute little boy. My little neighbor just turned 2 on Monday. He had a John Deere/farm themed party complete with his own sized automatic John Deere tractor.

Sinclair Island
I just returned home after spending the last four days relaxing on the rocky shores of Sinclair Island. My neighbor Marla invited me to join her, her two kids, her sister, and her in-laws for a fun get away. Sinclair is one of the San Juan Islands located between Lummi & Orcas. We stayed in a rustic red cabin with no electricity or running water.
We left Bellingham Bay late Wednesday afternoon for the cruise to the island. Breanna & Dylan were so excited to get on Grandpa Jim & Grandma Mickey’s boat. Once on the boat we passed the time by chatting and watching the scenery go by. We even spotted a beautiful speckled seal lounging on a rock. An hour or so later we arrived at the quaint little boarding dock and post office. From there Jim hauled our things on a tractor trailer while we followed behind for the short hike to the cabin.
Since I like to drag things out, stay tuned for more posts :)

Wells Creek Falls
On Sunday afternoon we were a little bored sitting around the house in the heat so we decided to take a drive. We drove up Mount Baker Highway in search of a waterfall Todd found online. Wells Creek Falls is about 5 miles beyond Nooksack Falls on a narrow gravel road. To get to the falls we had to climb over rocks, fallen trees and cross the raging creek barefoot (in California we call them rivers). It was an adventure, but well worth seeing the 90ft waterfall.

Girls Night Out
To celebrate my neighbor Marla’s birthday we had a girls night out in Seattle. Her friends Amy, Lisa and Amber joined us for the fun evening. We walked around for a bit in 90 degree weather before deciding we were too hot. So we found a nice restaurant, Etta’s, and cooled off while we ate dinner. After that we tried to find a fun improv show to go to but were told by a local that they only happen on weekends. The same local said there was a giant gumball nearby, so we walked below the street level in search of it. Turns out she said gum wall, not gumball. It truly was a huge wall covered in gum. Gum made into shapes like hearts and trees, kind of disgusting, yet kind of cool. We didn’t have any gum to add to the collection, but it was neat to look at and it smelled sort of good :)
