After a week long vacation (especially with toddlers) I think we were all ready to get home. It was a blast, even with the kiddos and the heat, and we definitely want to do this again (but in a bigger boat)!

Ada is starting to repeat EVERYTHING we say. She is getting good at saying certain words clearly (like apple) and saying phrases such as “I got it”, “go outside", and “I see you.” She associates daddy’s shoes with going outside to mow and will try her best to explain that to us. Ada can put her pants on, one leg at a time (I have to pull them all the way up for her) and knows her left and right foot. She loves to walk up & down steps (rather than crawl) and she kicks a ball very well. She also enjoys making funny faces when we request them, which is quite often :)
Ada turned a year and a half on our vacation. After our little nature walk, it got a little hot so Todd dunked Ada in the ice chest. She LOVED it!
The two kiddos seemed to have a lot of fun on the houseboat together. They stayed very busy swimming, napping, snacking, feeding fish & geese, watching deer, playing with toys, and throwing rocks. Oh, and running around half naked because it was so hot :)
Our second excursion was a trip over to the Shasta Caverns. Accessible only by ferry or boat (and then a bus ride to the top), we enjoyed touring the beautiful stalactites and stalagmites of the caverns. It was also so very dark and I wished I had a tripod with me to get better pictures…maybe next time.
On our way to the caverns we saw a fire near the I-5. It was being extinguished quickly by the time we passed, but it added a little excitement to our morning :)
One of my favorite spots on the lake was an area called Packers Bay. The red dirt surrounding us was just gorgeous, especially sunlit! We enjoyed swimming and watching the birds, including vultures, hawks, and ducks. Todd & Ada also paddled over to one side to check out several vultures eating a fish carcass. Fun times :)
