House Tour

For those of you who have not seen our place yet, I thought I would post some pictures of it all set up. I posted a link of the house a while back in October when we were looking to buy it, but the link has since been taken down. So here are some updated photos of the interior...it is still a work in progress, but I am happy with it for now :) I am waiting to show you the full kitchen until we get our new dishwasher. We are having it delivered on Wednesday and Todd will install it. I'll have more pictures of other rooms soon too.

He is Risen!

I am a little past due on the Easter weekend blog, but hope you all had a blessed time celebrating Christ's death & resurrection. We have so much to be thankful for!

Todd & I spent the weekend with his family. It's always fun to see them...plus we got an Easter basket full of candy from Tom's Mom  :) For those who don't know, Tom is Todd's step-dad.  Sunday morning was uplifting as we remembered what Jesus did for us and that...He is Risen Indeed!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

My brother and his wife are celebrating in Ireland at this very moment. I am mildly jealous, but hope they are having a great time. I have no exciting personal pictures to share with you, but I do have this photo. It's from Cute Overload...a very addicting site...if you're into cutesy animal pictures :)

That would be the number Todd turned yesterday. We had an open house/birthday party with several good friends. I think there were almost 30 people here! It's fun to have the space to entertain...though it was a little snug :) The picture of Todd is with half his cake...I forgot to take a picture of the whole thing before we cut it :)

Taste for Blood?

Have you ever tried a Moro Orange...also known as a blood orange? Cutting into one for the first time is quite a surprise. You expect an orangey pulp, but instead you get a deep, dark red flesh. Not to worry though, the flavor is very much of an orange :)

Early Spring Blooms

Little bits of color are popping up all over our yard. It has been fun to discover the many colors of the crocus and dwarf iris. Can anyone tell me what the little white & green flowers are?

Lunar Eclipse

Did y'all see the moon last night? It was pretty cool. I guess it's rare for an eclipse to occur in the early evening (I heard they usually happen in the wee hours of the morning). I think it was around 7:30ish when we saw it. Todd was able to get some neat pictures of the orange ball in the sky :)

Little Froggy

I came across this little fellow while working in the yard Monday. Isn't he cute? I've always had a thing for toads and frogs, I used to play with them as a child. Since Todd had Monday off & it was a gorgeous day, we decided to rake up the last of the leaves. The picture shows just how big our pile has gotten. We should be getting our yard waste service soon, I am very happy about that. It will be nice to get rid of that eyesore :)

Nooksack River

Todd & I took a ten minute walk down to the river last Saturday. It's pretty cool to live so close to the Nooksack. I read that bald eagles like our river, especially in January. I have seen about three fly over our house since we moved in. Although we did not see any eagles that day, we did have fun skipping rocks and taking pictures. We were able to walk out onto a rocky sandbar, the river was very low as you can see. Of all the beautiful scenery, I loved the colors of some "rainbow" bushes we walked through. The reds, oranges & yellows were quite stunning.

Sea Glass

For those who wanted to see my jar of glass...here it is :) There are also bits of pottery from other sea glass hunting trips. According to my experience, greens, whites (clear) & browns are the most common colors. Blues are moderately-difficult to find. Purples, reds & yellows are rare.

Down By the Bay

Todd & I spent a beautiful, but very cold, day near downtown Bellingham. There is a small beach near Bellingham's industrial area that we decided to visit. The purpose of our visit was to search for seaglass. One of my favorite pastimes is to search for this special glass. At this beach (which Todd discovered on his walks during his office breaks) you can find oodles of glass. Todd, being the creative person that he is, found another form of entertainment while there. Using a plain log balanced on another, he created a teeter totter! We had a lot of fun. I was afraid the log would snap under our weight, but thankfully it did not :)

Snow Day

This morning we woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow. Here are a few photos taken with numb fingers :)

Frosting

It's been mighty cold these past few days...more like several months...but I won't complain because the sun is shining! With the cold comes beautiful frosty mornings. Our plants look especially beautiful in the mornings all covered in ice. The birdbath is also frozen and has been for a while. Not too enticing for our feathered friends...unless they are made of stone :)
